The sacred mountain tobacco is one the many ways in which Diné people utilize natural herbs found within the sacred mountains to provide healing; mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally.
It is common to buy Dził Nat'oh blends at flee markets or stores, though this is convenient, it is not the proper way to acquire mountain tobacco. An offering and reason need to be given to the plants used in the mountain tobacco first. Only then can the mountain tobacco be harvested. When you purchase the mountain tobacco, you don't know what kind of intentions were put into the harvesting. Jiní.
There are many types of Dził Nat'oh blends, for example there is:
Yodí Nat'oh - used to pray for soft goods, livestock, and other material blessings in life
Aa' Nat'oh - used to pray about challenges, questions, obstacles. However, this nat'oh is taken along side bitter medicine (atł'izh), as some of the answers you may seek might come in terrifying nightmares. A main ingredient in this blend is Tsinyaachiin (plant that smells good and grows under trees)
